Higuchi Keizan
Shakuhachi

Born in Moriya, Ibaraki Prefecture, Higuchi Keizan studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Tanabe Shōzan and received top marks in the Tozan-ryū Shakuhachi Association teacher examination.
She also studied under Kawamura Taizan, Yamamoto Hōzan II, and Fujiwara Dōzan at Tokyo University of the Arts, where she graduated from the Master's Program in Japanese Music.
She participated in, and made it to the finals of, the 1st International Shakuhachi Competition.
Keizan graduated from the Seiha Music conservatory Special Course, and passed the NHK Japanese Music Audition.
She taught at the Ibaraki Prefectural Education Research Center, and was an assistant at the Traditional Culture Children's Classroom, commissioned by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
She was a lecturer for the Agency for Cultural Affairs' "Child Development Project through Culture and the Arts."
She is a graduate from the "Project to Develop New Artists Who Create Culture for the Next Generation" training support for Sankyoku budding performers.
She is a member of the Ibaraki Prefecture branch of the Tozan-ryū Shakuhachi Association, member of the Tokyo University of the Arts Dosei-kai, and a member of the Japan Sankyoku Association.
Higuchi is a registered artist with the Ibaraki Cultural Promotion Foundation and runs the "Higuchi Koto and Shakuhachi School."
